125 US dollars
Chandler Square

Description

This is our most popular training that offers an in depth, but quick overview of theory and clinical models of support for those who are grieving following a death. With the heartbreaking truth of traumatic death being on the rise, it is urgently important that the behavioral health field better understands how to support grievers. This presentation will provide an overview of clinical theory and interventions for traumatic grief and bereavement. Current controversy in the field regarding diagnosis for the bereaved will be explored. Specific clinical interventions will be identified for use with supporting grievers in the therapeutic setting. FINAL 1. Participants will be able to summarize history of grief theory, modern grief theory, as well as define differences between grief, bereavement, & traumatic grief. 2. Participants will be able to identify the effects of traumatic grief to better understand and normalize presenting concerns of grievers. 3. Participants will be able to critique current controversy related to the DSM addition of ‘Prolonged Grief Disorder'. 4. Participants will be able to describe current understanding of best practice approaches in working with grievers and implement specific clinical interventions and therapeutic support for the bereaved based on current clinical research.
