Description

This 2 hour training is a broad overview of a more in depth certification program. The bridge between the field of thanatology and psychotherapy has historically created challenges for those serving in therapeutic roles. This presentation will outline the basic tenets of Grief Affirming Practice™, an integrative therapy approach to working with traumatic grief in the clinical setting. Categories of tenets include: Anti-Oppressive, Grief Informed/Responsive, Trauma Informed/Responsive, Individualized, Non-Pathological, Mindfulness Based, Humanistic/Existential & Person-Centered, and Attachment Based. Research specific to theory, intervention, and application of each tenet will be identified. A case study will be utilized for clarifying application of the elements of GAP in the clinical setting with the traumatically bereaved. Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will be able to explain the need for integrative non pathological approaches to grief therapy and connections to trauma/grief informed care. 2. Participants will be able to describe the 8 components of GAP including: Anti-Oppressive Grief Informed/Responsive Trauma Informed/Responsive Individualized/Eclectic Non-Pathological Mindfulness Based Humanistic/Existential & Person-Centered Attachment Based 3. Participants will be able to apply 8 components of Grief Affirming Practice™ for the traumatically bereaved.


Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration 72 hours prior to an event your fee will be refunded, less a 3% processing fee. There are no refunds for cancellations received 48 hours prior to the date of the training or later. No-Shows are still due and payable in full. SWIGTS reserves the right to cancel a session if an unanticipated issue arises.
